question about rock

Was wondering if anyone has used fl feild stone rocks I have a guy I work with used it on his tank but wasn't sure if anyone else has. I'm starting my first tank 55 gal and j have always wanted one finally got a few bucks to get it started but don't have a lot of funds for 3 to 5 bucks a pound would like to get about 60 75 pounds

I used it in a African Cichlid tank years ago and it was great. However it is not very porous and I don't think it's a wise choice. I would use dry rock from a good LFS or mail order. You could start with less rock and add more as you go along.
