I am going to be starting putting together my 120. I am going to to a combination of dryrock and live rock. I am go g to get a rubbermaid 100 or 150 gallon stock tank for my sump. Is it ok to cook/cure the dry rock in tube stock tank? Then refill it with fresh saltwater add the live rock to it. My goal is to get coraline growing on the freshly cured rock. What is the best approach to accomplish this. I have a skimmer and power compact lighting and a couple power heads and heaters. I think that is a good start but I would lime to hear some opions.

Thank you for the response thegrun.Maybe I was unclear in my post. I will try to clarify. The 120 will not be set up for several months yet I am shooting for two or three. My idea was to put the base rock after it has been cured with the live rock in the rubbermaid stock tank with the lighting and get rock growing some coraline algae on the base rock. I was hoping to have some good color on the rock before it actually goes into the display tank.
Thanks again I plan on getting some good live rock from a reputable dealer near me so I am hoping to pick out some nice pieces that are filled with corline. Does anyone have recommendations on a good rock supplier for my base rock. I was thinking of pukani or something that looks similar but as always I am open to all options.

I went with Marco Rock for my boulders and since they were out of shelf style rock I got some AquaMaxx Tonga shelf. The marco was nice and clean with minimal cure time but i find the Aquamaxx had lots of decaying matter and would of needed double cure time compared to marco rock.

I just got some nice base rock from reefcleaners.org
The owner is real friendly, and accommodated my request for some shelfy pieces and some boulders. This stuff is mined from the ground where reefs used to be so it doesn't have dead stuff. He claims to cook out the phos before selling, and has a good reputation, but mines not wet yet so I can't confirm that. I have heard that Pukani can be dreadful for leaching phosphate, but no personal experience.
