Question about TTM for ich treatment

Hi RC,

I am doing tank transfer method for my 5 fish with ich and today is day 2. My question is can i reuse dry rocks in the tanks if I sun dry the rocks for three days before using it again? I use a few pvc pipes of different sizes along with two pieces of dry rocks in tank 1, but non of my fish seems interested in hiding in the pvc pipes (I found firefish sleeping/hiding right next to the pvc pipe (in plain view, not at the corner) instead of hiding in it, tiny blue tang and flame angel just like to use the dry rock for hiding. The reason I am worried is because I was reading articles/posts about marine ich and they mention that parasite will look for substrate or rocks to go into tomont stage and I am afraid that parasite might still be there even if I sun dry the rocks. (I am planning to just dry all equipments instead of using bleach) Am I worrying too much or is there a risk of reusing dry rocks during TTM method? Thanks

I would not risk it. Rock is extremely porous and could stay wet on the inside for weeks.
What I did with my huge fish in a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub with 40 gallons of water was a plastic basket with holes on the side, it floated and the fish could hide under it. 2 of them cost less than 5.00 at wally world.

I have one more question. how do you sanitize the tank, equipments and pvc pipes? I just spray and rinse with water and plan to let them dry outside for two days. Is that good enough? Appreciate your quick replies as I am on day 4 and just transfer the fish to tank 2. Thanks.

this is all that I do.

others will rinse with a bleach solution as well as let dry for a couple days. as long as you are confident that everything was dry and stayed dry for 24 hours, you are fine though.
