Question about unions

When it comes to SCH 80 and SCH 40 Unions does one restrict more than the other or are they pretty much the same besides that SCH 80 Unions are more heavy duty? Sorry I don't know much about this stuff. I went to Lowes tonight and all they had was SCH 80.

Inside dia and the elbow angle are the determining factors. The plastic is pretty much just as smooth so there is little difference. Sch 40 and sch 80 difference is thickness and strength of the plastic.

Then I'm ok using one of the SCH-80's I purchased tonight on my drain line? I wanted it to be removable for maintainence.

i think it has to do with the amount of pressure the pipe can handle

i like sch80 better because of the color... lol that and its alot stronger...

I prefer threaded Unions (from Home Depot) so that they can be removed and reused if you make any changes. The difference between sch 80 and 40 for our use (aquariums) is completely insignificant. The slip unions are useless once they've been glued in place and you want to change out something.
