Question about using 1 Kessil + supplements

I ordered a custom rimless tank and the measurements are 40x18x22. I planned on getting (2) A360W's but i'm wondering if it's possible to light the tank with just 1 kessil and add supplements like stunners or panorama leds with the kessil in the middle. It will be a mixed reef so I don't need heavy lighting but enough to keep a few sps pieces towards the top. What do you guys/gals suggest?

2 Kessil + 2 Build My Led 14k is what I would do.

But if you're only going to keep a few SPS, I would just get 2 Build my LED 14k lights. Don't really need Kessils and they'll probably be updating their lights soon anyway.

I put my Kessil 150 in my 120 tank and had it shine on my yuma after 4 hours the yuma moved away from the light leaving part of the foot where another yuma grew, so if you aare doing mostly LPS you could use some 150's and the buildmyleds, you can get a pretty good price on some used 150's also.

thanks for the suggestions so far. :)

I ruled out the 150 already because i'd like to be able to dim them down.

For that size you should stick with 2 360s.

For those demensions go with 360Ws you can probably skip the additional lighting (unless you want moon lights). The Wides giver good coverage and can easily do 18 to 22 inches dept. Having two will eliminate shadows (except on the very far end of each side)

My tank is only 8 inches longer than yours and you can see what i did.... (sig)

Attached.

No shadows. If you look closely you will see a GSP thats actually UNDER a ledge that has been spreading and is open....

You're going to get shadows and polyp death with 2 point light sources. Fill in lights from BML will prevent that.

Actually even with the two A150s off and the A360s at 60% intensity with the Blue turn up to around 40% (the lower the number the bluer)...there STILL isnt any discernable shadowing.

I seriously doubt many of the "expert opinions" on these lights are from people who actually OWN them....

You don't really have any corals. I have had several kessils, good lights.

What I mean by shadows isn't tank coverage it's when your corals grow out and shades itself.

Fair enough. Whats in their now is the livestock that survived my 120 that busted in my living room a couple weeks ago (didnt have much in that one either).

If 4 Kessils isnt enough to keep the self shadowing to a minimum, i guess none would ever be. I plan to add a new coral every couple weeks or so until its full.... We will see.

I have One A360W over a 40 breeder. Covers 36" no problem. it can probably do 40" if you raised it high enough but you'll get a ton of light spillage on the back and front.

I have one a350w over my 57 iluminata (36") tank it has two dark spots about 1/3 of the way up on each side of the tank I think two a360's would light that tank just fine
