Question about which osmolator

I have a 65 gallon display with a 30 gallon sump which loses about a gallon a day. The chamber in the sump that the ATO sensor would be in and also which the pump would fill is only about 5 to 7 gallons.

My question is would the nano version that is rated for up to 55 gallons work since the area it is monitoring and topping off is 7 gallons total or should I double the price and get the next model up? The way I am looking at it is that the ATO if used in a sumpless display would definately need to be bigger to keep up with evaporation. Even though my entire system will experience evaporation the only place in the system that the water level fluctuates is the one chamber of the sump. Assuming that the pump comes on at a minimum of four times a day it will pump 1/4 gallon into the sump chamber and shut off. If on the other hand it was pumping directly into a sumpless 65 gallon it would take a lot more water to raise the level every time it came on which would time out the pump. Any opinins are appreciated.

Some users have used the nano as you describe with success, however, we do not guarantee it to work and if it does not work for you, you would have no recourse unless the product was defective. The basic idea of the Nano Osmolator is an economical model with a very short duration safety timer as a back up in case the float were to fail, this limits how much water it can add. On a larger set up, considering the overall investment, it is worthwhile to get the full size osmolator where their are 2 backups, a float and a 10 minute time out, if the optic sensor were to fail.
