Question about Wrasses..

Anemones for life
I cant seem to find a thread here.. or I didn't look hard enough..

but is it possible at all to house wrasses in a Bare Bottom Tank?

im Looking at getting a Leopard wrasse or Pair.. I just know that wrasses need sand to dive into.. what happens if they don't have the sand to dive into?

(and I do not want to put a tuppaware container with sand in the tank, thought about it, but I wanna avoid sand with this particular tank except for the sump)

You cannot keep leopard wrasses in a bare bottom. Period end of story lol. They need to sand to relax and sleep. They secrete a mucus sleeping bag that helps protect them from parasites and more.

I would most def not keep any leopard wrasses in a BB tank

Haha no problem! They're amazing fish if ya have the right settings for em.

Any other ideas? Flasher wrasses are great and don't need a sand bed. I think lol

Correct on Flasher Wrasses. They, Fairies and Possum Wrasses all sleep in their own mucous cocoon in the rockwork. No sand needed for any of them.

theres some idea :D thanks for the suggestions!

It's a matter of genus.

For BB, you must avoid the Anampses, Halichoeres, & Macropharyngodon genera; they all require sand.
