The mad reefer
Greetings,
I've seen many Zoanthid colonies that grow in solid mats and I've seen many that grow in a ball-like cluster. But on rare occasions, I've seen them grow in a sparse encrusting form with significant space between each individual polyp. In the latter form of encrusting growth, one can definitely see tissue connecting the individual members of the colony. What leads to the various growth patters? Is it sub-species specificity?
