I am just about to start up my new 150 5x2x2 as it is viewable from three sides what I wanted to do is add a 6060 or 6100 in a deco rock , but the problem is I wish to place the deco rock containing the 6060 on the viewable right side of the tank as the left side is where my over flow is and returns giving me the opposing flow. I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t want to have a wire run up the side or corner of the tank as this is the viewable side. My plan is to run the wire for the 6060 under the graval across the entire length of the tank then up and over on the over flow side. So this means that the cable needs to be a bit more then 7 feet. What I have been told is the cable is only 6 feet. So you can see my problem the cable length is too short. I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t want to bring the deco rock 1+ foot in. Can I replace the current wire with a longer one ?

Thank you

If you use the 6000 or 6100 you have 16ft of cable, the 6000 is the more practical size for your tank. The 6060 and 6080 run on 115V so cutting the cable creates a serious hazard and it is a 6ft cable.

I really would not do this because every few months you will have to really disturb your tank when it is necessary to clean the pumps and they cannot be ignored or they will be damaged and possibly ruined by debris and calcium deposits. I think from a practical stand point you have to learn to live with the cable or forget about having an opposing flow.
