question bout lighting requirement for sps

I have 2 pro 250 hqi pendants with Phoenix 14k bulbs and 2 actinic vho110 Watt bulbs..
currently the actinics are on for 7 hrs a day and the halides are on for 5 hours.. is this enough time for spa to get the light they need or will 6-7 hours be overkill?? I have a chiller so temps are of no concern..

The perfect scenero is to mimic where the corals come from. With that said and the cost of electricity most of us start our lighting cycle with 10 hours of light (actinic) and 8 hours of MH.

The schedule your on sounds good to me. Are your corals just not growing or what? You could always add another hour for a month or so and see what happens but there are many other things that might contribute to a "lull" in coral growth, if that's the case.

Their are two of my sps frags that are growing.. but no others show growth.. do weekly water changes and all parameters r perfect.. so its gotta be the light..

I would suspect adequate flow is more of the problem. Try to add another powerhead opposite the Tunze and see if that helps.

Specifically what is growing and what is not & how is the flow around the different frags?

I run my actinics 10hrs a day with 7hrs of halide, use to have it on 8hrs a day with no issue but changed it when i got a new bulb and didnt swap it back.

What are you running for flow? maybe you need to bump it up. lighting schedule and bulb sounds good. whats your params? Also, some sps are very slow growers while others grow liek crazy!
