question coralife super skimmer (pics)

hi i just got my coralife super skimmer 65g model for my 24g aquapod tank today. my question is where should the water level be during the breakin? also i couldnt fit the bubble trap box because it was to big. so im getting tons of micro bubbles in my tank how can i stop it or will it stop once the skimmer is broke in?

here is a pic i have my water level at the green line should i be having it at the red line?

I have this skimmer and its AWSOME! It produces some really thick dark skimmate
i had that problem witht the buble trap as well and simply wiated fro it to brake in.

once its broken in, adjust the water level depending on how thick u want the skimmate.

I keep mine at the green line for thick stuff...the higher the waterline, the less thick the skimmate...which maybe what you want--its personal prference.

I think you will LOVE this skimmer! I do...I am surprised to be honest...how much gunk is was in the water...I niticed a dfference in water quality after day 2.

I am in the process of buy in new skimmer and i belive the Coralife skimmer is the one i going to get.
Iwas wondering if you have any other pics ( of the skimmer in the tank .front view)
I was wanting to see how the skimmer fits in the tank.

IF you have any of pics if you could please post them I would greatly appricate it.

it will put out a ton of bubbles during break in. However i just heard someone else suggest to someone to put a filter sock over the outlet part....try that. I would think it would be pretty helpfull

It will finish its break in relativly quickly...you will notice that most of the micro bubbles will not go past that grey tube inside the mixing tube.--when the break in is done... at least thats what i noticed

sir dudeuy...that makes alot of sense.

so once it breaks in do i open the valve on the pump all the way? also the bubbles are staing above the gray inner tube and the bottom is clear water.

well thats when mine was done breaking in
it was completly done with no more microbubles in the tank the second day.

I'd say open the valve now...and see what happens

This is the first thread that i've read where someone actually commented on how they enjoyed their nano tank's skimmer. Maybe i haven't ready enough forums...idk. Is this coralife skimmer the only nano-ready skimmer that actually traps decent amounts of organics? How would this skimmer fit in the 24gal NanoCube?

nano-skimmer? Its just a css65 lol. I wouldnt really call it a "nano-ready" skimmer...The remora skimmers are pretty common on small tanks too. The remora and css seem to be the top 2 for pretty much any tank smaller than like 75 or so, and i've seen them all the way down to like 7 gallons. Overkill? definately lol..no need to worry about having extra stuff floating around

Well i was more or less shooting at a nano tank of the 24gal size (the size of mine). IDK, i started this hobby using a skimmer, and to have a marine tank without it (nanocube) is just not comforting...that's just me though

i have a 24g aquapod and the coralife super skimmer 65g model fits it perfect. im happy with it sofar it has allready broke in and the micro bubbles in the tank have stopped and its only been one day. im not sure if the css fits the nano-cube tho. i know what you mean about not having a skimmer i helped a friend set up a 38g reef tank and he has a CPR bak-pak skimmer. after i seen the crap it pulls out of the water i had to get a skimmer for my tank. so i took the top off my tank and bought one. i did try that fisson skimmer that didnt even last a day before i took that out that was when i still had the top on the tank.

here is a pic of what the skimmer is doing sofar. also do i have to shut the skimmer down if i add reef advantage calcium and if so how long do i need to leave it off?

here is the skimmer now its now been 2 days since i installed it on the tank. also what is the best way to clean out the collection cup?

the best way to clean it is to turn off the skimmer and rinse it with warm water.

When I add calcium and other aditives i dont turn it off.

ok so i can add stuff like REEF BUFFER for ph and REEF CALCIUM ADVANTAGE and the skimmer wont go crazy?

i have never had a problem...iodine may cause an issue ime.

Seachem buffer, kent liquid reactor, strontium and molybdenum....i have never had a problem with.
