Question for flashing Gen1

I've read where it's best to clear the memory of the slave unit (Gen1) prior ro flashing the new firmware on.
My Question is:
Will the Gen2 unit lose it's memory or configuration while being used to flash a Gen1 unit?
Does it matter that I use a Gen2 master or slave to flash the Gen1 unit?

Thank you for your inquiry.

Clearing the memory from the pump which is performing the upgrade is not necessary, but it is not harmful either if you wish to do this. If you chose not to clear the memory first, the upgrade process itself will preserve all of your settings on the pump with the Gen2 code, so you will not lose your wave or any other saved settings. Lastly, it does not matter whether you use a pump which has been configured as a 'master' or one that is a 'slave' to update older pumps.
