Question for those who use 2 part additives

So previously, I was changing my water only 3-4 times a year... I was using B-ionic to keep my calcium and alkalinity up... KH was always at about 8-9.. Recently, I've tried changing my water more often... I've been changing about 25 gallons a week(15%)... I figured that since I was changing my water regularly now, I wouldn't need the 2 part any more... It's been about a month since i've started changing water regularly now and not using 2 part... tested my water today and my KH is down to 6... I've read about many people just changing their water regularly and not needing additives... it's not working for me... not sure if it's my salt mix... i use seachem reefsalt and on the mixed water kh is about 10.... how many of you who change your water regularly still have to use additives??? Maybe I just need to change up my salt mix...

I change regularly and if I don't dose KH and CA will be low. I use Reef Crystals.

It all depends on your Tanks consumption. I would have to do Daily water changes to keep up with my ALK. My ALK drops about 1 DKH a day or so with out my CA RX or dosing.

I do weekly 25% water changes and even thou I dose my water change water to match my tank parameters I still have to dose Mag/Cal/Alk.

Im still new to all of this but, i change water every week 10-15% in my 120g and i still have to dose KH and MG. Not alot but some. If not my KH drops real fast and the MG a bit slower. I also use Reef Crystals, i was using the seachem salt for a while and switched. Reef crystals seem to mix better for me.

I did an analysis of this a while ago. You can't possibly keep up with Alk/Ca/Mag consumption with water changes alone. You have lots of other consumables that I believe are being replenished, and you'll need to dose less 2 or 3 part, but it won't eliminate the need.

CaRx plus water changes is working great for me.

Yep, I do 3-4 gallon water changes a week in my 24 gallon and I still have to dose 2-parts. If I miss a day the Alk drops 1.5dkh. It's because my tank is overstocked and now I'm moving some of my corals to my new 45 gallon to reduce the consumption on the 24.
