Question on AquaIllumination Classic Rail Kit

Hi there,

I sent this note via email on May 31st and never got an answer... am hoping maybe I'll get some feedback here.

I bought three AI Hydra 52's to cover my 62" long x 32" wide Elos Tank. I think I would like to rail mount them and hang the rails, rather than have them hang individually, as I will be mounting them perpendicular to the tank ( -- I -- I -- I -- ). I did by 3 "individual mounting kits", by the way...

My question is this: it possible to join two short sets of rails together? I live in Russia, and am limited to what I can fit in my suitcase. So the longest rails I can fit would be 24". I was thinking it would be nice to have 48" of rail, just in case I add a fourth light at some point, and I'm wondering if there is any "off the shelf" connector that is available from AI for two shorter lengths of rail?

Thanks

Hi pch90265,

I am sorry that we somehow missed your email. The rails do use standard-sized M6 screws: however, finding a double-sided M6 screw may not be very easy and it is possible that the rail may sag. You can definitely try finding, and using, double-sided M6 screws first. If that does not work, perhaps a local welder can weld the two rails for you.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply... I miss emails from time to time myself, not a big deal.

Do the rails come with the "end caps" that I've seen in the pictures (the horizontal piece)? Maybe it's a simple as connecting those, and using a set of the hanging cables in the middle? Certainly would not be as "clean" a look as just hanging it from the ends, but that would eliminate the sag, I guess...

Thanks

Hi pch90265,

Endcaps are indeed included. If you don't mind the way it looks, connecting them and using hanging cables in the middle should definitely do the trick.
