Question on biopellets.

I have recently decided that I am going to run biopellets on my upcoming build. Here is my question. I am curious if I should begin running the biopellets as soon as the tank is up and running or is there a specific time when you should start the biopellets instead of right at the beginning stage? My knowledge on piopellets isn't that great other than what they are used for. I would appreciate some knowledge from the pros that hang around in the sps forum. Thanks.

Install them right off the bat while your tank in cycling. They need about a month to be colonized by bacteria anyways, so by the time your new tank is cycled, your bio-pellets should be doing as intended and reduce nitrate.

How do you know you want to use them if the tank isnt even going yet? I dont know much about pellets either, but I thought pellets were used to combat nitrate problems? If that is true, then how do you know your going to have nitrate problems.

I started mine right after the tank was done cycling. You can start them as soon as you want. It's better to start them before you have a nitrate and/or phosphate problem. My levels have stayed very low. I am also using Cheato in the fuge that is still growing well.

Mc-cro you are right I wouldn't know but every tank that I have had was a high nutrient system because of the way I feed and such. I feel like its bound to happen in my new tank also so why not take precaution and run them from the beginning so I never have to see those issues.
