Question on electricity

We are doing some remodeling to our house and plan to switch my FW tank to a SW tank. I need to know how much electricity/outlets I'll need near my fish tank. I am planning on using a skimmer, fuge, 2 Maxi-jet 900 powerheads (maybe 3 later), heater, and light fixture with 4 96W bulbs and 2 fans that has 5 power cords. Also the room is on one breaker right now. Will I need to put the tank on its own separate breaker? I would like to get this workout now while we are doing to remodeling rather than realize we don't have enough power after everything is done.

Would suggest having 2 separate circuits and at least 12 outlets - whatever you decide on will not be enough LOL

I would run at least one dedicated circuit on a 20 amp breaker.
I agree with dave11, If your remodeling run two so its there in case you upgrade to a larger tank.

Run at least 2 deicated 20 amp circuits for it. Even if you don't have equipment totaling 40 amps, your still OK. They will only draw whats needed but you won't have to worry later of not having enough.

I'm installing a 400 G tank and have run 3 dedicated 20 amp circuits. Right now I'm starting to wonder if that's enough. I curently have the system set up in my garage and it's using one 20 and two 15 amp circuits and about to overrun them.

I suggest you run two dedicated circuits as well so you can spread the load. Put your vital pumps on one, and the rest of the stuff on the other. Also you might want to think about running a GFIC breaker, so you don't need to run a GFIC outlet.

To answer you question though, what you listed will run fine off one 20 amp circuit, even shared with some other stuff in the room (lamps, tv, radio, clock, etc.). Your electrical load is very light (what you listed).

It is for what you have planned later that you will need the dedicated circuits. :D

The spot on the wall where I am going to put the tank really won't be able to support anything bigger. I only plan to add an extra skimmer if I plan to add corals and such that need more circ.
So I would be fine having on one 20 amp circuit dedicated to the tank and one to the rest of the room.
Do I need 12 outlets or would 4 be ok with the use of power strips?
