Our problem anywhere on Long Island is that we all have well water. Long Island used to be all farms and that fertilizer and insecticides eventually make it's way into the tap water. Along with that is all well water picks up whatever minerals it passes through on it's way to the water table. Most of this stuff is not filterable and is not considered a health hazzard to humans in the amounts detected. Unfortunately, coral has different requirements than people and this water is sometimes unfortunately unsuitable for them and very suitable for growing algae.
