Question on Pump Size

I posted this on Reef Central and only got 1 reply that didn't help. Anyone got any idea: I have a 72 gal reef w/fish tank w/hang-on refugium and 2 skimmers (small one in sump & hang-on Remora), and I want to plumb-in a 10 gal frag tank in the 72s cabinet, next to the wet/dry sump filter (holds approx. 7 gals). I bought a dual overflow so I can run 1 hose to the 10 gal and the other to the sump. I know I have to bulkhead the 10 gal and sump together to avoid overflows. The pump I have in the sump is a MagDrive Model 5-500 gph. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SIZE PUMP TO USE IN THE 10 GAL FRAG TANK, which I'm thinking can pump over to the sump (1 1/2 ft to 2 ft distance). Anybody know?

I would like to see the answer to joy's question also because I too have a wet/dry sump under my cabinet that I would love to pumb to a tank beside it for a fuge. I do not have a fuge and I believe my 120 gal reef needs one.

Not sure I understand, but it may be easier to put both drain lines into the sump, connect the frag and sump together with a bulk head and place a single return pump (mag 7 perhaps) in the frag tank.

Water would then flow from one side to the other, with a single return pump.

My original idea did not include a dual overflow, but somebody suggested ... I still have the single overflow on the tank. If I do what 1package says, would I really need the dual overflow at all? That would keep me from having to drill a hole in the sump top for the second hose. However, a pump that big in the 10gal would take up a lot of space, and exterior pumps are tooooo loud.

Joy, you could still plumb both up to one pump, that is how I did mine and it actually works better than when I had two pumps. All you do is run your hose to a T or Y and off to both returns, just make sure you put a control valve on each return hose (very easy and only about $3 each valve, get them in the plumbing section anywhere, same goes for the T or Y)
