Question on requirments for Giant Clams

Hello, I bought a small giant clam (I can't remember the species name but it the most common. It starts with a Tri..) It slowly died and I saw small bug like animals crawling into the claw through the mantel. I have 600watts of MH lighting the 10K range on that tank. The tank is 80 gallons in size. All parameters seem to be fine. Could I have gotten a bad clam? My temp does fluctuate due to the summer heat so that could be one possible explanation. It stays around 84 to 85 degrees. Sometime goes down to 82 or 83. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a little on the warm side..

Was it small and blue?
There are lots of pics around here..you could look and see which one it was. Tradacnids should handle 84-85.
What claw?

It was blue! and about 3-4 inches in diameter.

almost sounds like pyramid snails.
