Question regarding Acans not inflating

My acans have been inflated and full for a while now but I decided to add about 2 lbs of marco rock that was cleaned and soaked in water change water for 2 days and then epoxied together. I added it to the tank and now my acans are retracted almost completely. I did a WC and ran carbon but still retracted. The epoxy was the gray by D+D and Im wondering if that may be the issue. It was air cured for a day but Im wondering if its leaching out into the water. Any thoughts or experience with this? I usually use aquamend with no problems but lfs doesnt carry that and I bought this. I dont know what else I can do besides wait it out. Do you think it was the trace organics from the LR?

whats your salinity? is your skimmer going nuts?

use JB water weld from now on it make you skimmer nuts for a little but thats all

My alk has been 7.5 for months if not a year.

skimmer not going nuts...pretty normal.

I usually use aquamend with 0 issue. Im going to pull that rock with epoxy when I get home and use superglue to keep it together. I think more than anything its the epoxy. it said reefsafe but...im questioning that.

would you guys run a poly filter that absorbs amonia/nitrates?

you may want to do a test for ammonia and nitrite. adding a bunch of uncured rock to an established tank can cause a spike in these.

it was 2 pieces @ about 2 lbs...would that spike it? wouldnt my existing biofiltration(ie LR LS) be able to handle it?

if it is a large tank 2 pounds would not be noticed in a small tank 2 pounds could indeed cause a spike. I have a 125 reef and I always check ammonia for a few days after adding new rock just to be safe.

I have a colony that has been a little finicky before. Usually after a day or two it's regularly inflated again and eating aggressively. Maybe it's just going through an adolescent phase? :crazy1:
