Question regarding Aquaticlife Smart Buddie

Posted this in another forum but thought I'd ask here too.

This might be a dumb question. I currently run the Vertex Puratek 4 stage RO/DI. I've expanded it to a 7 stage with the addition of a single stage prefilter canister from source water with a tds meter to anther prefilter > carbon > chloromine > RO membrane > an additional two stage with double DI > finished. The Vertex has a built in booster pump. All membranes and canister filters, flow restrictor etc are Spectrapure and high end and quite new. I'm currently running a 4:1 ratio of waste:clean water and it's Taking about 60 minutes to make 5 gallons. Here's my question. I purchased a brand new Aquaticlife Smart Buddie booster. A very well respected hobbyist friend of mine uses it and told me nothing better.

My question is, do I need to disconnect the already installed pump and switch out with the Smart Buddie or can I piggyback them from Vertex pump to the SB?

I don’t know why you would want to use 2 booster pumps? I don’t think there would be any advantage unless you are running duel membranes.

I just expanded my vertex 200gpd unit to 7 stage (added 3 stages of DI) so i have a sediment filter, 2 carbon blocks, and 2 membranes then it goes into the 3 stages of di. It made 50 gallons in just under 5 hours with no aditional booster pumps.

Is my understanding you only need the booster pump before the dual membrane or single membrane if the pressure is low.
Vertex might have different pumps for their 100 and 200gpd units
It would be interesting to compare the Smart Buddie booster to the commonly used Aquatec 8800.

I don't necessarily want to run two booster pumps and not seeing any advantage with two, I just don't want to remove the existing booster pump if I don't have to. I guess I could just remove the lines out of it and bypass it and feed into the Smart Buddie instead.
