Question regarding gigantea

If I were to place a gigantea in it's own tank which shares a sump with another tank that houses a haddoni and two btas, do you think chemical warfare would exist between the two tanks?

I'm not sure ... I think it may depend on how big your total system is. I CAN tell you that I am currently in the middle of trying to sell my 2 rBTA's b/c of the gigantea I introduced to the tank last month. Things were thriving. But as soon as the gig was intro'd, a lot of LPS started receding, and favia growth began slowing down. All 'nems (BTAs and gig) appear healthy though. Just in case, I'm getting rid of the BTAs in hopes that the rest of my corals perk up again. Total system is 56 tank + 20 sump. hope this helps!

i have a bta with gigs and a hadonni. no problems as of yet

what's your tank size? what corals do you keep with it? before i tried the gigantea, a couple years back, I had a heteractis crispa and the same bta's. nothing did well. however, as soon as the crispa was removed, tremendous coral growth came back. I do run carbon, but I suppose in my case, even ~80 gallon total volume may be too small to avoid chemical warfare. The strangest thing is, BTAs and h. crispa were always healthy as heck while corals suffered!

whoa, did you just write, "7 giganteas"??!? that's insane! i've heard of ppl not having luck w/2 or 3 bc of introducing bacterial infections and such, but SEVEN??!? how big are they all? wow, where do you have ROOM for all of them?? post pics!! :)

anyone else have this BTA+gig combo and notice some of their corals suffering? Or are people here mostly anemone-only tanks?

I've not had success with the gig bta combo and that's why I want to try and separate into to different tanks.

no success as in coral health declines but 'nems are fine? or no success as in nothing (corals and anemones) don't do well?

hopefully will be getting rid of both my BTAs tmrw and being left w/only my gig. I'm looking forward to some major bounce back in my corals!
