Question regarding retracted BTA

Recently I put in a red BTA in my tank. I put it in the center top rock of the tank, where there is heavy flow and strong light, expecting the BTA to move itself to wherever it pleased. It moved into the cranny right below that rock that very day, and to my surprised stayed there, despite being rather bright/flowy. Today, it looked greatrday, and then suddenly, about 2 hours after feeding the tank, it wasn't in sight.

I searched all over the tank, finding even my husband's "missing" purple fire goby. I think I've found it, but I wanted to check here to be sure.

Right under the rock where it had been, there is a flat white disk about the size of the anemone. I've seen retracted BTAs in stores before, but they were more like ball-like or at least sort of a cylindrical shape. This is the first time I've seen an anemone retract to a nearly flat shape. Even my green BTA is more ball like.

Just curious how common this is for BTAs. Also, any idea how long this lasts? I've mostly had carpet anemones until now, so just want to make sure this is somewhat normal.

I bought a pacific neon green bta about a week ago... I did the same thing. Put it right on top of my rock where it receives the most light. The following day when I checked up on it, It moved to underneath it. I didn't like it being under the rock in the cave considering I wanted it to be seen so I moved it again and sure enough it went right back to where it was. So, I left it there and suddenly one day it disappeared and when I looked closely the anemone shrinked and looked like it was dying. No bubbles or anything...did some research and it turns out that, that's how it removes waste. It retracts everyday and then blows up beautifully. I wouldn't worry too much. Scared me the first time...but it's okay. Any pictures??

I suppose this is a good time as any to try out the iPhone 4 cam. (Bear with me, as I'm terrible at posting pictures.) Since posting, I moved the BTA to a more appropriate spot, and it has recovered about 70%.

It's a pretty small BTA (entacmaea ramsayi) though. I tried to get one over 10cm, only to be sent one that was barely 8cm.

My green BTA (entacmaea actinostoloides) is much bigger:

I also have an LTA:

The front of the tank looks like this:

And the verdict is that the new iPhone takes better pics than the old, but they're still pretty crappy pics....

Oh, nice tank! looks great! If the BTA moves I would leave it. They have a mind of there own. My BTA that's under the cave has just spit in two already. I'm guessing it likes the spot. Your BTA is fine...try refraining from moving it to the spot you want. It will move
