Recently I put in a red BTA in my tank. I put it in the center top rock of the tank, where there is heavy flow and strong light, expecting the BTA to move itself to wherever it pleased. It moved into the cranny right below that rock that very day, and to my surprised stayed there, despite being rather bright/flowy. Today, it looked greatrday, and then suddenly, about 2 hours after feeding the tank, it wasn't in sight.
I searched all over the tank, finding even my husband's "missing" purple fire goby. I think I've found it, but I wanted to check here to be sure.
Right under the rock where it had been, there is a flat white disk about the size of the anemone. I've seen retracted BTAs in stores before, but they were more like ball-like or at least sort of a cylindrical shape. This is the first time I've seen an anemone retract to a nearly flat shape. Even my green BTA is more ball like.
Just curious how common this is for BTAs. Also, any idea how long this lasts? I've mostly had carpet anemones until now, so just want to make sure this is somewhat normal.
