So I'm changing an existing set-up over to about 95% zoas. I've had a few over the years, but never thought much about them. Anyway, I went to a LFS the other day and got a few frags. The ones the question is about were in the upper portion of his tank and were under t5's. The stalks were about two inches long. In my tank they look like this.

Just as a thought, I'm thinking him not having adequate light and the zoas were reaching???

Thoughts????

Long stalks for most species of zoanthids normally means slow water flow and /or low light. Slow water flow means a lot, just as low light, for those species that come from very shallow waters in the wild (or from a well lit tank!). That's IME.
They are pretty good in adapting to the higher flow, but as you should already know, in order to adapt them to new light intensity/PAR/spectrum is a slower process.
Nice polyps!!!

Grandis.
