What looks like ick or lympho but is not ick or lympo and only grows around where it looks like flesh has been eaten away?

I have been these types of weird crap lately that I have never seen before. Closest I can find via search on RC and google is: mycobacteria marinum as it looks like the flesh on the fish has been eaten away and part of the fin bone is showing.

If this happens often then it may be water conditions. many fish come with problems you may never see if they arnt stressed. Whats your tanks specs?

Right now, I am using my 90 gal as a QT tank with prazipro, maracyn plus, Chloroquine phosphate, and tetracyline.

I was using CP to get rid of ick, then I noticed the regal started having part of his back fin being "eaten away" where I could see part of the spine thats when I decided to use maracyn plus. After using maracyn plus, white spots that looks like ick/lympo appear only around the area of where the spine and flesh was disappearing.

Now today, I noticed some of the tangs have a somewhat cloudy eyes that looks like fluke and in goes prazipro.

Regal stopped eating :(

Some sores are showing on my anthias and I just found out the maracyn two was expired. However, I asked a trusted LFS and was told that it can still be used, but should be monitored carefully. On the regal and anthias, there are simlar ick/lympo looking thing growing between their scales.

Too much crap in there. lol

One thing you could (Could have) done is pull out the infected fish and do a bath using tank water. Or better yet a 4 minute fresh bath followed by an hour or so bath in the tank water in antibiotics. (Maracyn 2 not plus).

Also it somewhat sounds like you could be dealing with uronema marinum or brook. Both of which could be treated with straight up metrodinazole in the whole tank with prazi at the same time and not risk your bio, and possibly clear up other unknown parasites at the same time.

I'm doing this now, for a fairy wrasse I believe got infected with uronema marinum. Perfect one day, almost dead the next. I thought he'd be dead in a day but this seems to be working. He was so bad most of the front of his dorsal fin was gone, and the scales around the area were lifting, and flesh sloughing off. A couple fresh dips, the maracyn 2 bath, and metro in the qt and 3 days later alive, eating, and seeming to be starting to heal. Time will tell.

I have a good link for you if I can find it. standby

Lol I agree. Its a cocktail. Based on my experience, this boards info and googles, I was under the impression that CP cures UM, antibiotics cure secondary infeciton, and prazipro will get rid of the rest. I mean first day, the regal took a crap and it was a bunch of white thingy.

I have tried Metro before and it didn't really help. I usually do FW dips first, but it look so bad that I had to act quick. The weird thing is the anthias never showed sign of UM until I started treating.

I am worried about the biological filter, but I wanted to be safe by nuking everything to make sure I got rid of all the diseases before I move them to the new tank set up.

I have been keeping ammonia in check via prime.

I thought Prime only binds up ammonia so without bio filtration or water change the ammonia is still there. But supposedly the bonded ammonia is less harmful than the free ammonia.

yup thats correct. it was .5 yesterday night and its still 0 today after i dropped prime in.
