Is this what it looks like?

I've seen these off and on through the years either burried into a rock or just sitting on the sand.

Is this how shells are made? I've often wondered that if I never disturbed them - what would it have become? The big shell in the picture is for comparison. What do ya' know? Thanx........T

theyre from dead snails. when they retract their foot, its the covering that protects them from predators. im sorry i forgot the name of it, maybe someone will chime in with its proper name.
