Questions about a macro flash

Im tossing up between the Bogen/Manffrotto Dual Point Flash Bracket, or the canon MT-24ex on lens mount...

These two systems are WORLDS apart price wise... just wondering if the big price difference is worth going to the Canon...

Also if i went with the manfrotto, what flashes should i mount, and how would i connect them to a cannon X10? Thanks

Xirxes23,
It's difficult to compare the two systems, however, let me give you my take on their marketing scheme.

The Flash brackets from Manfrotto (not Bogen, Bogen is the US distributor, they don't make anything. I have no idea why people call them Bogen in the US), Really Right Stuff, Wimberley, Kirk etc are all designed to mount external flashes such as the Canon 580ex, 430ex and other external flashes (not brand specific). These are mainly designed for those people who also own external flash units and are not willing to fork out $xxxx for the MT-24ex.

The MT-24ex is designed specifically for macro shooting, it has minimal uses as a everyday flash. This system is compact (no dangly bits every where) and this is a huge plus in the field.

Both systems produce great quality of light when used by a user who takes the time to explore the capabilities of the system.

Hope that answers some of your Q's.
