Questions about Brain

I have a large green open brain w/ a "baby" attached. I acquired it a year ago and it has grown quite a bit since then. Now the size of the baby has reached a point that during feedings It has its own mouth that swells as if hoping for a meal of its own.

Before the baby never reacted that way - I assume it was content to feed off the mother.

Feeding the baby would be much more difficult than the larger mother, but I wonder if it might be a good move at this point. I am excited to see the babe break away and become its own independant creature and wonder if feeding it independantly from the mother would help that process.

here are a few pics for those of you who havent seen it before. I'll get up to date pictures in a little while - the brain is still waking up as the lights just came on.

here is a picture of the baby during a feeding time recently - notice how it has started to swell up around the mouth.

You just need a small feeding device. I've got dissposable 2mL pipeters at work. I'll try to remember to bring a couple with that FS on Sat.

IME, when you feed the "baby" LPS's. It does seem to speed up their growth. Most recently I've noticed this with Acans. but I think the brain should react the same way. The pipettes duec has are awesome for feeding...come to think of it, I could use a few myself..DAAAAVE!! hook me up!

i must be tired i misread the post as "questions about brian" I thought this was gonna be some kind of juicy gossip threat. man i must be like half asleep. lol

anyway that brain is sweet, is that the one you got in a club raffle a while back. if so you are so freaken lucky!!!!

what ya gonna do w/the baby? can it be fragged off? or do you want to let it grow into a 2 lobe/conjioned brain? or maybe it frags itslef the way candycane heads seem to grow big and long then split into nice round heads.

No this was one of my first corals - I bought some Halides from a gentleman going out of the hobby in Tracy and he gifted his remaining corals to me as he wouldnt have any light for them after I took the halides.

Some people have said it *could* be fragged off, but that would be risky. The Majority have told me to just leave it be and when its ready it will break off on its own.

Not sure what I will do with it when and if it breaks off - likely hang on to it for awhile and enjoy it, but likely I would sell it after awhile or possibly trade it.
