questions about osmolator?

I'm having troubles understanding just how this works. Do most people set them up using both brackets with the safety on one and the operating sensor on the other? I have them both on the same bracket.

My main problem is that the pump is always on until the safety sensor shuts it off. Is this how it should work? or should the operating sensor turn the pump on AND off?
When I plug the power in and the water level is below and over the operating sensor the pump continues to work until the safety sensor shuts it off.

I guess thats ok but whats the point of the operating senor? I thought the safety sensor was just used as a backup.

any help would be helpful
thanks

The optical sensor should shut it off. The float is one of two backups the other being a time limit. Is this new? Are there bubles on the optical sensor? when new they tend to attract bubbles making them fail, and after a day or two they get a little coating on them and no longer attract them. a rinse in warm water helps too.

As for on same or separate brackets it does not really matter , the benifit of separate brackets is that you can stagger them closer together if you want

I tried it again tonight and it appeared to work correctly. I left it alone and came back to find my reservoir low and pump continuing to pump water into my sump. Its not a siphoning problem. I will try to clean the operating sensor but I don't trust it yet. This must be a common problem as I see a couple other people having the same issue.

Also Roger, Should the 6101's snap into the magnet holders? Both of my don't actually "snap" in place. Not a big deal but pump tends to vibrate and shake in holder and if I try to move the pump and magnet inside the tank, the 6101 tends to fall out to the bracket.

thanks for your help

My problem was that I had it in an area of the sump with too many microbubbles. I moved it to the return part (where the instructions say to put it, but I didnt read that part ;) ) and it has worked perfectly.
