questions about tamron lens(es)

This may be a bit difficult to explain but I am going to give a whirl and hope that someone can follow me....good luck!

I have a 28-300 tamron lens for a Canon T1i that my mother in law loved so much that she "took" it for a few weeks...I missed the lens so my wife and I decided to buy her one for Christmas.....I opted to go cheap route and picked up a 70-300 tamron lens of ebay.

Lens arrived well packed and looked to be in next to new condition, however upon mounting the lens on the camera I found out that the focus ring did not work at all....either in AF or MF. The large focus ring, (zoom) will not extend the lens, the smaller focus ring, (fine tune) does work....excuse my technical terms.

THE NEXT ISSUE I HAVE
Ok, that 28-300 I have that I liked so much...well it took about a 3 foot fall off a table at the hands of my 15 month old this week. the lens seems to have made it through ok except that there is a bit of separation between the large focus ring, (zoom) and the mount to the camera. It does not effect the function of the lens to this point but it seems very cumbersome at best.

Anyone have any pointers of where I can take them to have the once over

Thanks for taking the time.

Honestly, your best bet is to contact Tamron directly. It's possible that you may have a local camera shop that can take a look, but for anything serious they'll just send the lens to the manufacturer.

For reference, the entire zoom assembly crapped out in my Canon 24-70 f/2.8L. I sent it to Canon and had it back in 8 days. For $200 they replaced the zoom assembly, completely cleaned, and calibrated the lens. It was like brand new.

Don't screw around with it.
