Questions about UV

My water has never been super clear like other tanks I see..So Im thinking of buying a UV unit cause I heard it will make your water crystal clear. Is there any truth to this?

What other pro's/ cons when running UV? Also which unit would you recommend for about 70-80 gallons of total water volume?

Thanks in advance!

I dont have a UV. But I do have 200, and 100 micron filter socks? My water is clear. And my params are great.

my tank has been skimmerless since day 1. LR, Fuge, Water changes, and carbon?

I have both filter socks, A Sponge, Filter Floss, Carbon, 15 Gallon water changes a week, 140+ lbs of live rock, and a large fuge...

It seems there is stuff still floating in the water...

Wow? I dont know....I guess some things just dont work out the same for all.

Im guessing the flow through ur sump/fuge is to fast? I usually need to siphon out debri from the equipment compartment that collects in there.....And I have a good clean up crew in the fuge.

Don't use UV on a reef system. It will kill much of the life you need support a healthy system. For that matter, filter socks do the same thing.

It might be microbubbles -- that's easy to test, just shut off the pumps for an hour and see how the water looks. Or, you may have expectations that are too high. If you are comparing to a acrylic or Starfire tank, regular glass will make the water seem dirty in comparision, but it's just the glass.

Finally, what color are you seeing? Yellow? Green? When you do a water change and the water is in a white bucket, what color do you see?
