HI.. I'm considering a nano wavebox for a new build I'm planning on having up around new years.

The tank is a 48 x 24 x 24 120 G tank. At this point I'm planning on having it built by My Reef Creations out of Atlanta. According the the web page the ACRYLIC tank will be made out of 1/2 inch cast cell ACRYLIC.

QUESTION #1
Will a nano wavebox be adequate for a 120g tank? Or will I be wishing I had gotten the larger one? I really like the small foot print.

QUESTION #2
Will a nicely made ACRYLIC tank of this size made out of 1/2 acrylic be ok with a wavebox as far as stress on the seams goes? I don't want to goto bed at night wandering if my new tank will hold up. Tank will be eurobraced around the top with a single brace in the middle.

B. Snow, the nano wavebox will work fine for your tank size as long as you don't plan to fill it up with live rock. As for the tank as long as proper bracing in place you should be GTG...

You should get at least 1" of wave in that tank. You can place the wavebox in the tank facing the front and it will generate side to side wave...

facing the front.. hmmm... I would have thought throw it in longways... but whatever you say.

where would you recommend having the overflow on this tank? Does it have to be in the middle back? Does it matter?

To me it doesn't matter. But tunze recommend the overflow box to be in the center back. Since your tank is acrylic, why not ask them to put the overflow box ext

I've never had a tank with an external box.. basically it's like an overflow box that you buy... only it's part of the tank and the water enters through the wall of the tank as opposed to some sort of syphon over the edge right?

The external overflow box is a part of your tank using the same concept as the internal except it will sit outside of the tank and you will gain more space for coral. There is no siphon over, the water will rise and overflow into the external wavebox and gravity drain into your sump....

Its scaring me how much more that may cost haha.. actually material wise.. it shoudn't take much more acrylic... maybe the guys at MRC can make it doable.

B. it doesn't cost much at all. If the overflow box internal they will use more material. Tell them early so they don't have to tell you "it is too late cuz i already glued them together"

That is funny. I don't see how they charge more when they use less material. Unless they need to make the back wall thicker ?

the external overflow box needs to be thicker than an internal one,so the acrylic is more expensive.my external overflow is made from 1/2"
