Questions for all you jawfish owners!

SOOO this summer i will be upgrading my 40g breeder specifically for this little bugger! It wont be a change in the length or width but height simply to accommodate a deeper sand bed then my current 4 inch deep one. So i was wondering how you guys get your rocks all the way to the bottom and still have a decent aquascape? I really like having many caves and over hangs for my fish to go and out of but cant fathom how to get them when they have to be touching the glass which is 6inches under the sand... btw this is for a pearly if that matters at all! thanks in advance! :bounce2:

Oh and one more thing! I currently own a fighting conch but always get worried about my jawfishes den... would it be wise to transfer the conch to a different tank and just use various snails to help with the sand bed turning?

I find enough junk rock to place on the bottom of the glass to stack my good liverock on, and then fill in substrate around the rock.

My sand is more shallow then 4" and mine is fine, just make sure if you dont have deep sand, that you can provide a rock for them to burrow under.

The fighting conch wont be an issue. They will ignore each other.

In mine, I built a layer of small sections of pvc pipe zip tied to a section of eggcrate (just slightly bigger than the base of the rock) with the rocks mounted on top of that. That keeps all the rocks up a couple inches off the bottom, lets critters tunnel freely in the sand under the rocks, and everything stays stable.

I agree. Fighting conchs are irrelevant.

So I dont have to worry about the fighting conch collapsing my little guys burrow at all? thanks for all the suggestions!
