questions from a paranoid newbie

Not quite sure whats acceptable with anemones yet so everything makes me uneasy. 1st off I have 2 btas ones green that I have had about a month and the other is a little rose I bought this past weekend. The gbta at one point looked very good and wide open (although I have yet to see it stop moving which is frustrating). About a week or 2 ago it decided to run into my vortech and got pretty damaged. it seems to be taking its time healing and its tenticles are fat but short, It also has not stopped moving (I read something about short tenticles being a bad sign but Im not sure if that counts for anemones that are healing). For my rbta, it has stayed in place, accepts food, but doesnt seem to be nearly as open as it was in the store. Is any of this normal should I just stop being paranoid and let them do thier thing? I havent had a chance to get good food for them so I have been giving them flake food for the moment. If my parameters are on par would what Im experiencing be normal?

IMO, it isn't normal for any anemone (( let alone a BTA )) to be moving around that much. Something has to be off --- could be the lights, flow or some water parameter. A "happy" anemone won't be moving around trying to find better conditions.

For what I know right now my system is 150mh, flow is from a vortech so I guess that its pretty strong flow all around and I just recently tested ca and dkh and ca was 400 dkh was 10 i think I keep my water at 1.025 and Im not 100% on the rest I havent checked in a little while so I cant say for certain.
Assuming my parameters are in check is there something Im doing wrong.
Im sorry if my questions are a bit dumb and basic but Im still learning slowly but surely.

the rbta just needs to get adjusted to your tank.

So its normal for a newly placed anemone to be smaller for a couple days

I wouldn't say normal, but it isn't unexpected. Some take longer to settle in then others.

Did you acclimate it to your lights?

I did 3 hours the 1st day and now its on the bottom of my tank relaxing. I also did an hour drip line for the water.

I'm in the same boat. I just bought my first gbta and I don't know what their normal behavior is, so everything is worrying me too. Mine won't eat.
I don't know for sure but I thought I read that you shouldn't keep more than one anemone together unless it's a clone. Something about how they can sense eah other and end up fighting.

Ill be happy to share my experiences with you Majority_rules. Everything is alive so I can definately say thats a good sign and the rbta seems to be inflating more and more slowly but surely

Anemones need meaty foods such as mysis or silversides. What are your water parameters?

from what i heard you dont have to feed nem s if your lighting is good but it helps

They don't have to be target fed if you heavily feed your reef tank. They will not do well long term, sometimes even short term, without food.
