first off with the gobies....

can anyone recommend an interesting and colorful goby that I culd get for a 55 gal reef?

I know gobies basically kill the sand bed.... does this cause any large problems?

I thought the shrimp gobies were pretty interesting..... would a shrimp goby and a pistol shrimp act aggressively toward any other fish/inverts in the tank?

I saw a few hermits online that i was interested in, but im not sure about their behavior... are there any i should watch out for?

I was also interested in the porcelaine crabs and hawaiian strawberry crabs.... would it be safe to put one of each in my tank?

finally I have a pair of tank bred ocelleras clowns, 1 yellow damsel, 1 royal gramma, 1 turbo snail(large), about 10 small hermits, and a fire shrimp......can anyone recommend any other colorful, interesting fish/inverts(aside from corals I got that under control=])

Well I have a pink spotted watchman goby that is pretty cool. I just picked up 3 PJ Cardinals they are interesting fish.

I'd probably stop adding fish after the goby. I liked my Yellow Watchman pair, but there are a lot of nice goby fishes. The dead sand bed shouldn't cause a problem, although I'd keep the depth limited to an inch or so.

ehh the problem is (this was an accident) half my substrate is crushed coral and the top half is live sand and I'd say it's about 4in or so?

Diamond Watchman Gobies are pretty cool. Some good inverts are Super Tongan Nassarius Snails, sand sifting sea stars, and electric blue hermits.
