Quick Aquacontroller question

Hello all,

I needed to replace my temperature probe on a 4-5 year old Aquacontroller Jr. and the new probe looks like a new design. It is this one here

My question is, how far can I submerse the probe? And there is a solid black plastic piece that looks like it could be a cap on the end. I am not supposed to remove this right?

You can submerse the probe partially or fully, but the cable may become brittle after being fully submerged for long periods of time. The rubber cap must stay on, or you will damage the probe.

That is out of the unofficial apex manual.

I and many others run their probes fully submersed with zero problems.

The manual says to DO NOT fully submerse!!
