quick are these AOG's?

well i could read that, but usually people just make up names if they dont know them. and it looked pretty close, so i was just checking.

Do you think AoG isn't a made up name? So if they were AoG you would have bought them, but since they're not you're not going to?

This kids would be an example of how silly this whole naming thing can be. Even sillier are the people that let the name of something dictate the worth of something and if they want it or not.

I never understood the people getting so worked up over others' obsession over zoa names. I just don't see the point.

Hard to tell from a pic, but probably not. AoG tend to be more orange in the center.

People on Ebay call all kinds of stuff AoG. If the seller is calling it Orange Crush, he probably considers it to be a different type.

I'm kinda sorry I came up with the name AoG. I've never sold any of mine. I hardly ever frag them. I've traded a few to only a handful of people. But AoG is one of the really hyped names going around.

Don't buy it for the name. Buy it if you like it! :)

people dont buy zoos just for the name most people buy stuff because they like the color of the zoos or it hard to get a hold off. that why rare things are expensive. they name it so u know what it is that you are buying.

I'd agree that it doesn't look like it is the AoG. There are a lot of similar morphs to the AoGs though. Lots look good too.

Names do help identify a specific type of coral, but I agree that it's gone too far and "we" are paying too much, therefore keeping the market up. I think a lot of colors are slowly showing up and the costs will keep lowering. Takes time.

well thats the thing mr ugly, i've seen supposivly what the real AOG's are, and they are awesome. the picture only sort of looked close to what AOG's are, and i didn't want something that wasn't you know? Its not that i am buying them just because thats what they are, i was buying them because i like the real aog's and if thats not what they were, i wasn't going to buy them. so i apologize for being a "kid" thats just interested in something. i wont bother to ask again. thanks to the people who actually took the time to answer for me.

btw, couldn't have said it better myself.

Ebay is riddled with scam artists and people trying to make a quick buck. Always buy from a trusted source and buy what you like.

A foot note to this, if the idea to name corals for quick identification was never thought of these corals would stil be pulling high prices. People pay for what is nice, within reason of course.

Ug, I just got a hold of some purple centered zoas that have a neon green star pattern across the oral disk. Not uncommon, just haven't seen them in a long while. I'm going to have to send you some. Maybe those nice folks at zoaid will submit them if I take some nice pictures? Maybe I'll name them "Detroit City Rocks"?

Oh well, might as well post some pics.

Here's AoG with colors fully developed.

Here's AoG that's a bit blotchy due to growing in a shaded spot.

see, those are awesome, and i want THOSE lol thats why i was asking if those other ones were those, because i couldn't really tell from the picture. now, since theres so many cheap knock offs out there of aog's, i think we should end this problem and you should just send me some ;-)

and wait, how come one picture looks like they are partly white, and the rest they look black? do they like morph? because i dont really like the whiteish ones much but i love the black ones.

1st pic is 14k Hamilton. 2nd pic is 20k XM.

If AoG are shaded, they can get red orange with dark areas. If they get direct light, they'll be brighter orange.

1st pic is showing glare from the metallic orange. 2nd pic is an overhead shot, so no glare.

Those are very nice Mr Ugly! And those peeking in ffrom the left look sweet also! Do you have any of your zoas pictured in a thread of your own? I would like to see your collection :) I looked in your gallery and noticed Mr. Ugly used to be called Mr Moldy  And the christmas hat is way too cute!

Angela, thanks for the comments. I don't really have a picture thread. Sometimes I post a pic for those threads that say, "Show me your whatever" and it's something I have.

Mr. Ugly was my yellow frogfish. I picked my RC handle when I still had him. The grey one is Mr. Moldy :)

Ktar, AoG is the larger type polyp that people call palys.

Ug, do you still have the frogfish?
I have always wanted another one. I haven't had a frog for years, but they are awesome.

Hey, do you have Mellow Yellow palys?
