Quick frag tank

With the frag swap coming up this weekend, I've got a question.

I don't want to put new corals into my display because it's not doing so well right now and I don't want them to die. I'm ready to hit the reset button on the thing, but that's not going to get done before this Sunday.

How quickly can I set up a frag tank? I've got a 40g tank that I bought to mix new water in. I've got a set of T5 lights from my original setup that I can get new bulbs for. I've got a couple of extra wave makers and a return pump that will move plenty of water.

Am I thinking crazy that I can just mix up some new water, plug in the lights and the pumps and be good to go?

You are thinking crazy. You need to cycle the system. That being said there are multiple products that could have you cycled before this weekend. You don't need a sump or anything you can even do it with just to hang on the back penguin filter. As long as you aren't getting too many corals that are difficult like SPS corals you should be fine. Don't forget to utilize the CDP as well. It will be up and running at the Saltwater Expo.
