Quick help...New tank

I just started up my tank again from scratch. Can I start adding inverts and corals?

Parameters so far:
Ammonia - .25
nitrate - 0
p h - 8.4
nitrite - 0

I added a damsel but he died rather quickly...

Have not measured calcium yet, but if it is ok, what other parrameters do the corals need to start adding them?

When did you start cycling? You should wait at LEAST a few weeks. The damsel dying is definitely not sign pointing to your tank being ready. So, I would say no. Don't add anything yet.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you have quite a few posts to be asking such a basic question. Your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate all need to be 0 before you can add any corals to your system. Those are the most important things to test for, but not all that is necessary for a successful system. By having ammonia, diatoms, and cyano, I'd guess that you just set up your tank recently. Be patient. The diatoms and cyano will go away in time.

I know I know. I was confused by a guy at my lfs who said adding inverts would not be a problem with my params...Another embarassing confession. This is something I never looked into. I always added fish first so the opportunity to add inverts never really came up until now...

no wait, ur amonia levels should be zero, take your time, b/c if u dont anything u put in will die.

Personally, I'd wait til all the test results in 0. And when you add any livestock add them slowly, maybe one fish or coral a week so your bioload can get acclimated with your bactiria load.
