quick ich question

Ok, so after doing quite a bit of reading from the stickies, here's my question. If a fish can build an immunity to ich (per sticky) and is the only fish in the tank, is that the same or similar to having a fishless tank since the ich doesn't have a host to feed off of while you wait the 2-3 months to clear your tank?

No. Ick is like a jealous girlfriend that will never go away. Just when you think she's gone, well there she is again.

You have to kick this stuff in the pants bro. Only fish that "may" have immunity would be mandarins which are scaleless. I still would not trust that though. Do it right and have the peace of mind that you are ick free.

that you are inmune dosent mean you dont have the disease, it just means that it dosent kill you.

And yes, you can still host it.

If you want to kill ich you will have to do fallow time (80 days without fish). Treat the fishes in a QT tank. And then quarantine everything new you get.

I agree ^^^. It may appear that the fish does not have ich (immuned), but any stress is capable of it having an outbreak. You could just stick your hand in the tank and the fish gets stress and boom you have an outbreak again. Fallow of the DT would be the best choice and TTM for the fish.

Ok, so April 8th was the first day my tank was completely empty of fish. I am also getting ready to set up a q-tine tank which fish will sit for 2 weeks or so. Thats roughly 9-10 weeks I believe with fish sitting in q-tine. How much longer do I need to wait to be safe when I start putting fish in? The first 2 fish will be a male Blonde Naso Tang and a Mag. Foxface.

The tank should be good to go, but will you treat your fish with copper to make sure you don't introduce pest?

Usually after 60 days all tomonts have hatched but it has been found to take up to 72 days. It is recommended for a minimum of 76 days to be fallow, though I see a lot of people recommending longer. 10 weeks may just not be enough. It is a very small chance but remember that Murphy guy.
