Quick MH Question - Your opinion wanted!

I am going to place an order to replace my Actinics, and I thought I would grab a few Halides while I am at it.

I thought I would try out the 20K as I have not used these in the past yet.

I have (3) 14K Reeflux SE 250watt bulbs right now on ARO ballasts.


What is your favorite SE 250watt 20K bulb?
(I do not have the time to research this today)

20k's are blue on their own and using actinics too you are going to get a seriously blue tint, FWIW.

Only 20K I've used were XM, I was using them with actinics, I liked the color. Couldn't take pictures under them to save my life though.

I understand that these will be very dark and a blue color.

Has anyone noticed better growth, or coloration, or longevity out of a particular bulb?

I have used the XM in the past, but are Phoenix or someone else's bulbs better?

you are going to get better growth out of a 10k bulb period.

Its all preference as far as color goes. Personally, I dont really like blue tanks. Corals can be plenty colorful under 10k bulbs , the colors just arent exaggerated or covered up. different kelvin ratings as well as different brands can bring out different colors better. This can be said for 20k and 10 k bulbs alike.

To be sure...wehn i say i dont like blue tanks im in no way saying there arent lots of blue tanks that rock and have gorgeouos corals in them.......just that i prefer white

I have to agree with flyyyguy.

Different brand bulbs of the same kelvin can look different.
