Quick Q on Kalk...

"Do not mix CombiSan and kalkwasser in a dosing reservoir!"
does this mean to not use either product in a kalk reactor / dosing res? or, just to not use them together?

As long as I have your attention, what is your most popular kalk you sell? I am making a kalk reactor myself, but need help finding what to fill it with. And, in the meantime, couldnt I just mix the kalk in with the top-off water (7gallon bucket w/ float switch)? Why a seperate reactor? It seems that an extra powerhead on a timer in the bucket mixing would work to keep it mixed...or is it the exposure to air that is bad?

Regards,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Thank you for your inquiry. You can use the Combisan and Kalwasser in the same aquarium, you just do not want to make up a mixture of the two in the same container. Basically you need to dose them separately.

Our most popular kalkwasser would probably be the Kent Marine, SeaChem and Two Little Fishies Kalkwasser. All are excellent choices. Kalkwasser is meant to be dripped into your aquarium. If you put the top off with Kalkwasser on a float switch it can possibly dose to much at a time..or in the unlikely event (but unfortunately does happen) the float switch sticks, you potentially could put in 7 gallons of kalwasser causing your pH to raise very high in your aquarium. A kalk reactor allows the dripping of kalkwasser while at the same time allowing for the addition of freshwater (to the reactor) to keep a constant supply of kalk for the aquarium.

If there is anything else we can do for you do not hesitate to ask.
