quiet in sump return pump?

If you are a cheapskate like me I will say again the Via Aqua pump I have surprised me. It is quiet and cheap.

I have been down the cheap road my friend. And in the long run, it doesn't pay, at least for me it didn't. The old saying is no lie "You get what you pay for".
DasaniO1, does your pump hum? Does it sit on the sump bottom?

I have both a Via Aqua 4900 and a Rio Hyperflow 24HF sitting on the shelf with only a matter of hours use on them that I expected good things out of that are both inoperable. The magnets have swelled up on both of them and distorted so much they won't even turn. I was really disappointed when both manufacturers refused to back their products with a replacement magnet.

My biggest complaint with Eheim is they don't make a large enough pump for bigger tanks, only lower flows are available.

I had a ViaAqua 4900 as a return in my sump for just short of 5 years. Magnet gave way on it three weeks ago (large portion of it just disintigrated). Still, for the price those things go for they are a tremendous bargain. I never had any noise issues with mine. I'd buy one again...in fact I did.

AZRAT- I totally believe in you on the RO/DI. I am going to order the MAXCAP unit soon. I usually do not buy cheap myself but I needed a pump fast and overpaid for the Viaaqua 2600 locally. I figured it was junk but to my surprise it has been great for 3-4 months. It doesn't push much head but from under tank to back in it works great.

I have a few friends that used the Via Aqua so I was hoping it would work for me even as a back up to my Ocean Runner. I ran it for a few days to make sure it worked, rinsed it out well with fresh water and put it on the shelf. Next time I tried to use it to mix water it would not turn so I pulled the impeller thinking maybe I hadn't rinsed it out but discovered the magnet had swelled up! I was bummed to say the least
