hi all, i am currently gearing up for my first reef. i will be using a 130 gallon plywood tank with a built in "bean animal" overflow, a 30 gallon sump with skimmer and duel 3/4 inch lock line returns. eventually my tank will be a lps/sps tank but for now it will be a FOWLR until i get the rest of my equipment.

so i have a quiet one 4000 pump that i had for this tank when it was supposed to be a cichlid tank. can i use this pump to get my cycle started and to keep some fish until i buy the right pump for my corals? from my calculations i should have around 700 gph at my current head height

thanks for your help

I've been using that pump on my 120g for years. If it's flow you are concerned about, most of the flow and water movement should come from powerheads, not your return. So yes, nothing wrong with using that pump.
