quiet one 4000

will this pump be sufficient for a all glass 90 gallon overflow tank? the tank can flow 600gph according to all glass, this pump will do 600gph at 6' it claims. Does that mean sending the water up 6 feet up to the tank? Is that what that rating means? The pump would be in the sump underneither the 90 gallon.

From the looks of it, the Quiet One 4000 looks like it would work. I don't have any experience with the Quiet One line. I've got a 90 gallon AGA and use an Eheim 1262 which is rated a bit lower than yours -- boy it pumps out the water! It is really quiet too.

The rating at 6' is the rating with pushing it up 6 feet. If you are using it in the stand under your tank, the height would proably be closer to 4 or 5 feet, so the flow should be more at that height.

ok, thank you for the reply, I think I will pick one of these up, they are pretty inexpensive. I have an eheim 1250 in my computer lol (water cooled computer) its pretty quiet as well,vibrates some though and get annoying at times hehe

There are MANY posts of people with QO pumps that complain of restart problems after power down. I'd go Mag7 if you want inexpensive, and dont mind noisy (but reliable), or an Eheim 1260 if you want reliable, good flow and quiet.

I have a smartups 1000 ups I am plugging all my gear into. so even if there is a power outtage it will run for a quiet a long time on battery. (hours maybe or longer)

What's the word on BackUPS for a reef tank? I have my whole room where the tank is wired with GFCI outlets. I have a couple of UPS systems that I'd like to hook in, but my concern is they would kick in if the GFCI circuit trips, and thus negate any benefit for protection from fire / electrocution. I haven't researched it much, though -- I just thought I would be safe and not use them, even though it would be very useful in the event of a power outage.

I too had start up probs with my QO 3000 and then one day I came home and it wasn't running. It had locked up tight and I couldn't get it apart at all. I used to love it due to its quietness but now I run a Mag 12 on the CL to replace the QO. Heck, my Rio Hyperflow has lasted over 18 months and the Quiet One only made it about 12 months.
