Quietest closed loop plumbing

What is the quietest way to use PVC to plumb a closed loop with an external pump? I will probably have 2 intake bulkheads. Is it best to have them go down to a "Y" then 1 pipe down to the floor below. Or is it best to have each of them go down to a right angle and then meet at a "T" joint, leading in a single pipe to the floor below.

What is the best method to reduce the "gurgling" sound?

With a true closed loop, you shouldn't have ANY gurgling sounds. The beauty of a closed loop systems is that the inlets and outlets are typically submerged.

As for joining the two drains, a "Y" is clean, but a 90° and Tee would work very well. We run two 2" drains into a 2" manifold for our Closed Loop and it works great. Plumb it so it's easiest and you can service everything.

Doug's right, you should have no water type noises form a CL. Only problem some people have is when they have their plumbing touching/leaning of the stand/canopy/or tank, and vibrating.
