Quietest HOB Protein Skimmer - Hydor Slim Skim?

I have been using the CPR BakPak 2r+ HOB Protein Skimmer on my 40b for a few months now. I have tried to get over the loud noise it makes, but being that the tank is in my bedroom I have finally cracked and NEED to get a quieter one.

I know all protein skimmers are going to make some noise, but which one (HOB) makes the least? I have heard good things about the Hydor Slim Skim and am about to order that. But figured I would see if anyone has any other recommendations first.

I have the same skimmer...the pump is so loud but you can try replacing it with a CPR Aquatic Accela Replacement Pump or another Rio Plus 600 PT Venturi Water Pump (the pump that came with mine).

Try cleaning the pump really well with a toothbrush and twisting it around to get the rattle to stop, I've even tried a silicone mat between the skimmer and tank rim. Try even unplugging and replugging it...it's a great skimmer, but yeah, that pump is so loud :/

I have the accela pump! Last week I took it completely apart and scrubbed everything, including the pump impeller. Still nothing . I am definitely going with a different skimmer. (It does skim well which is the sad part)

The only thing that helped a little bit, which I recommend you doing, is to take the short air tube to a tube about 2ft long. (Found this trick online) This quieted it down a little for

My Aqua-HOB1 Maxx skimmer is amazing. Quiet, pulls crap out like you wouldn't believe...and my corals have never looked better. It is $229 but totally worth it. On my BC29 but could do a 40b no problem I have heard.

Agree 100% with dinger. My Aquamaxx HOB-1 is nearly silent and is a workhorse.
