Sometime overnight, my ocellaris clown managed to jump up and out of the back of my canopy. Probably my favorite fish and certainly my oldest. Picked him up at Inland Aquatics as a tiny little guy from their breeding stock there 2 years ago. Some pics:

And finally, paired up with one of Kathy's clowns I picked up at last year's frag swap:

Sure gonna miss you little guy. Added a lot of personality to the tank. My wife actually cried a little when I told her. Fish never showed any inclination of even considering jumping out of the water that I ever saw. My top is covered pretty well, but I do have some open area on the back of the canopy and he must have hit is just right. Other clown looks lonely now. I don't normally get too attached to fish, but this one was my first SW fish and really was entertaining. *sigh* :(

Thanks guys. I don't think they are typically jumpers, that's what makes this really weird.

Ironically enough, I was just looking at the little clowns at GWA only a couple of hours ago and thinking how nicely colored they were. Got home and my inlaws are here visiting, looking at the tank with my father in law and realized that my tank's ambassador of good will was missing. sucks

Ok, so I knew I had some of this eggcrate stuff here somewhere to use to put on the back open area of my canopy. I don't get a ton of time to work on this stuff, but I finally found it this past weekend. Just came down here, as I have my stepson watching my 4 year old for a little bit for me upstairs, and I'm starting to do some quick measurements of the area I need to cover. As I'm doing this, it strikes me that the tank seems somewhat "empty" this afternoon, so I take a step back and look at it. Fish are swimming around here and there.................

but where is my new angel?

Look all over through the rocks, nothing. Try to check in the overflows and finally behind the tank, nothing. Open the stand and pull out the toolbox I have under there and.... one dried out swallowtail angel behind it. :(

So, after six months of waiting just to get this fish and two months of quarantine bringing her back from poor packing and shipping, ich, and lymphocystis, that's R*I*P number two for this month. This is really, REALLY starting to suck. :( Eggcrate cutting commences as soon as I stop typing here.

Same thoughts with my clown. Would have thought the anthias or spastic foxface would have been out of there before the clown and angel. Well, it's a bit late in coming, but I just finished temporarily installing the eggcrate across the entire back opening of my canopy. Need to get it more permanently locked into place, but it's holding up where I want it right now. A fish is going to have to catch about 12 inches of air through a gap about 3 inches wide to get out of the top now.
