I have a 4 stage RO/DI unit that I am starting to put into use. I am wondering if it matters whether the in line is connected to the hot or the cold?

I am trying to set up a 4 stage RO unit and ran into a problem. The fourth canister (looks like a uv filter kind-of) uses some kind of oddball size element. I am probably going to have to look into getting one on-line. Now, I have replaced the first three elements and the last one took a 5 micron filter. Is it possible to run the system like this for now? I would leave the fourth canister in place, just leave it empty for now. Any ideas?

By 4 stages I assume you mean
1. Prefilter- should be a 10 or 5 micron
2. Carbon Block- should be a 5 micron or 1 micron
3. Carbon Block- should be a 1 micron or 0.6 micron
4. RO Membrane- Best if its a 75 GPD Dow Filmtec

Is that your configuration? Or do you possibly have a post RO granular carbon filter horizontally mounted on top and one less carbon block?

Yes! That one. The pre-filter is 25, second stage is 20, third is 5 and 4th is empty. I have a feeling that this is not going to work out without spending some money. :-(

Replacement filters are pretty inexpensive online.
Try any of the places I suggest in all my other posts on RO. Most sell a complete set for like $25 or less.
Do you know what brand RO unit it is? You might contact the vendor for advice.

it is made by premiere. It is the super-fine gpd filter that is ridiculous. On their site it is about 70 bucks. Same at Marine Depot.
